From July 10, 2024 Board Meeting
The board of education held its regular board meeting on July 10th, 2024, in the high school library. The following items were acted upon or discussed during the meeting.
The board heard good news from the Maroa-Forsyth FFA chapter and the numerous awards and recognitions they received during the state convention this summer. Congratulations to Mrs. Crouch and all of her members on an outstanding showing.
The board approved the minutes of the June 11th, 2024, regular and closed session.
The board approved the financial report and monthly bills as presented.
The board approved the destruction of audio of closed session minutes that are 18 months or older.
The board approved the hiring of Shelly Followell as PK aide at GS.
The board approved hiring Allison Griffith as sophomore class sponsor for the 24-25 school year.
The board approved the volunteer coaching list for the fall of 2024 as presented.
Mr. Ibbotson updated the board on the school social work posting. After consulting ROE#39, the administration team, and our current school social work team, the position will be posted as a leave. If that is not filled, the administrative and school social work teams have a plan in place to service students and re-post in the fall with additional details for the position.
Mr. Ibbotson updated the board on the bike path project in Forsyth. The plan has been in the process for several years, and village engineers are moving forward with plans to access district property to construct the path once it begins. The path would travel the old railroad bed from the water filtration plant to the north and up near the Prairie Winds subdivision. It would end at the east entrance of the grade school. The documents for the land to purchase for path areas have been submitted to our district attorneys for review. This is the next step in a long process of building the path.
The board approved Adam Ibbotson and Whitney Parker to district financial accounts as approved signers.
The board approved splitting the JV football stipend between Lane Ohlemeyer and Logan Stelzriede.
Board member Jill Feinstein gave an update on the happenings on the school board association.
If you have any questions about the meeting, please feel free to contact me. I look forward to connecting with you as I start in the district.
With Trojan Pride,
Adam
