From September 16, 2024 Board Meeting
The board of education held the budget hearing at 6:30 on September 16th, 2024, in the high school library. The FY25 budget was presented and reviewed by the board. The hearing was adjourned, and the regular monthly meeting was called to order.
The following items were discussed and or acted upon:
The board heard good news from the high school and grade school regarding their new staff members to the district. They also celebrated the Preschool Program's recognition with the ISBE Gold Seal and the marching band's victory in all categories at the Monticello Marching Competition for their classification.
The board heard a presentation from Tina Horve from the Educational Foundation and Archives and thanked her for her work and support of the students and community.
The board approved the minutes of the regular and closed session meeting from August 19th, 2024.
The board approved the financial report and monthly bills as presented.
The Board approved the destruction of audio closed session minutes 18 months or older.
The board accepted the following resignation:
- Rosanne Corey, HS scholastic bowl sponsor.
The board approved the hiring of the following personnel:
- Approve the hiring of Bryanna Lugari as GS paraprofessional
- Approve the hiring of Trey Longstreet as Freshmen Boys’ Basketball Coach
- Approve the hiring of Jason Sherley as HS night custodian
- Approve the hiring of Emma Pikula as HS scholastic bowl sponsor
- Approve the hiring of Alyssa Garner as FFA assistant advisor
- Approve the hiring of Chris Kerr as GS lunch/recess supervisor
The board approved Kolade Sessi as a volunteer Boys' Basketball Coach.
New Business
The board approved the following action items:
- Resolution Authorizing Intervention In Proceedings Before the Illinois Property Tax Appeal Board regarding Hickory Point Realty, LLC. PTAB Appeal No.2023-04182-
- FY 25 Budget
- Press Issue 115 per policy: 2:70, 2:125, 4:70, 4.80, 5:130, 5:200, 6:140, 2.70-E, 2.160-E.
The board placed press issue 116 on review. This policy focuses on the new regulations for Title IX complaints.
Mr. Ibbotson met with a group from Decatur Christian School and shared more on their request. The board approved Mr. Ibbotson to meet with the group to discuss possibly lengthening the number of years for payment to be completed. Mr. Ibbotson will update the board in October.
The annual staff appreciation dinner will be on the evening of November 4th.
The Illinois Association of School Boards will host its Abe Lincoln Division meeting on October 3rd at Lanphier HS. Board members were encouraged to attend with Mr. Ibbotson.
The board reviewed the principal and athletic director reports as presented.
Jill Feinstein shared her IASB report regarding board elections.
