From May 20, 2024 board meeting

The board of education held their regular board meeting on May 20, 2024 in the high school library. The following items were acted upon or discussed during the meeting.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Audrey Jahruas and Avery Cardinal they are members of our elementary student council.

The board heard good news from the high school regarding the donation the YLIA made to the student cares room in the high school. The donation was in the amount of $1,200.

The board approved the minutes of the regular and closed session meeting minutes held on April 15, 2024.

The board approved the financial report and monthly bills for the month.

The board approved the destruction of audio closed session minutes 18 months or older.

The board approved the resignation of Marissa Cook as high school special education teacher.

The board approved the resignation of Ken Parks as high school math teacher, head girls track coach, JV boys' basketball coach and National Honor Society sponsor.

The board approved the maternity leave request of Raeshel Duncan.

The board approved the resignation of Coral Sager as Freshman/Sophomore Class Sponsor.

The board approved the hiring of Whitney Parker as the unit office bookkeeper and superintendent administrative assistant.

The board approved the resignation of Heather Ohlemeyer as Pre-K teacher aide effective at the end of the school year.

The board approved the resignation of Nikki Young as high school administrative assistant.

The board approved the hiring of Aubrey Whitacre as 1st grade teacher at Forsyth Grade School.

The board approved the hiring of Kyle Ramos as grade school custodian.

The board approved membership in the Illinois High School Association and the Illinois Elementary School Association.

The board approved the following policy updates with the exception of: 2:260, 2:265, 4:165, 5:10, 5:20, 5:100, 5:120, 7:10, 7:20, 7:180.

The board approved the request for a fifth 1st grade section at Forsyth Grade School.

The board approved a revised bid for the elementary school playground in the amount of $627,004.

The board approved the cement work to be completed at the high school football field in the amount of $279,944.

Illinois Association of School Board liaison Jill Feinstein updated the board on school board association happenings.

The board reviewed principal and athletic director reports as presented.

The board changed the regular July board meeting date to July 10, 2024 at 5:00pm.

The board approved the memorandum of understanding with MFEA regarding the pay out of personal days for the 23-24, 24-25, and 25-26 school years.
