eLearning Public Hearing

October 01, 2025

Dear Trojan Families,

The Maroa-Forsyth CUSD #2 Board of Education will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. in the Maroa-Forsyth High School Library to receive public comment on the renewal of our eLearning program for the 2025–2026, 2026–2027, and 2027–2028 school years. This renewal allows the district to continue using eLearning days in place of emergency closure days, as permitted by the Illinois School Code. The hearing will include a presentation of the proposal, followed by an opportunity for parents, staff, and community members to share their feedback.

As part of this process, we want to ensure that families clearly understand what eLearning entails for students at each level. Please reach out to your child’s building principal with any questions before the hearing. Below is an overview of the plan at each building:

Grade School (MFGS)

  • Morning Check-In (8:00 AM): Students log into their classroom teacher’s Google Classroom and join the 8:00 AM Google Meet for attendance and daily expectations.
  • Learning Activities: Teachers are available by email from 8:30–11:00 AM. Specials teachers (Art, Music, PE, Tech) will also offer optional live Google Meets during the morning.
  • Closing Check-In (11:00 AM): Students rejoin their teacher’s Google Meet to share what they accomplished, ask questions, and check out for the day. Attendance will be recorded for students who attend either session.

Middle School (MFMS)

  • Assignments Posted: By 8:30 AM, all teachers will post assignments and materials in Google Classroom.
  • Live Schedule: Students log into Google Meets following a shortened period schedule:
    • 1st Period 10:00–10:07 | 2nd Period 10:07–10:14 | 3rd Period 10:14–10:21 | 4th Period 10:21–10:28
    • 5th Period 10:28–10:35 | 6th Period 10:35–10:42 | 7th Period 10:42–10:49 | 8th Period 10:49–10:56
  • Support: Teachers will be available for questions until 2:00 PM. About 15 minutes of work per class will be assigned. Attendance is recorded through Google Meets and bell ringers.

High School (MFHS)

  • Assignments Posted: By 8:30 AM in Google Classroom.
  • Live Schedule: Same period schedule as the middle school (10:00–10:56 AM). Teachers will take attendance through Google Meets and bell ringers.
  • Support: Teachers remain available via Google Classroom and email until 2:00 PM. Each class will assign approximately 15 minutes of work in addition to bell ringers. Students who cannot access work should have a parent contact the HS office.

Special Notes

  • Attendance: Students must check in via Google Meets at the designated times to be counted present.
  • Assignments: All assigned work is expected to be completed before students return to school.
  • Flexibility: Students who experience internet or access issues will be given additional time, but parents must notify the school office.

Thank you for supporting your child during these E-Learning Days. We encourage you to join us for the public hearing to learn more about the program renewal.

Sincerely,Adam Ibbotson
Superintendent, Maroa-Forsyth CUSD #2
