Cheers to those keeping us safe and warm this winter!
I want to acknowledge and thank our bus drivers, custodians, the Maroa Road Commissioner Jamie Zombro, the Hickory Points Road Commissioner Kevin Bird, the City of Maroa, Kirk Cearlock and Jody, Dana, & William in transportation for all they do putting up with the winter weather of all kinds. I really appreciate the care they take to support us all in being safe and warm...they brave the elements very early in the morning outside in many cases and have many long days this time of year. We have also had teacher and student volunteers come in on weekends to help with clearing snow around buses and sidewalks. Thank you to those folks as well. As you are aware, winter will be with us awhile so give this group a shout out as you see them.
Need to Know
- Strategic Plan Goal Pacing Results - Attached are the results of the activity we did back on January 7th. This feedback will be helpful as we begin to address our goals over the next three years.
- 2019-20 Tentative Calendar - The committee has met twice and is recommending the attached calendar. After reviewing, if you see some sort of "red flag" that the committee missed please inform your principal and/or send me an email for us to review. The calendar has mostly the same structure as our calendar for this year. Parent-Teacher-Student conferences are set up different with a Thursday evening Friday morning format with no student attendance on Friday (I believe this model was used in past years). At the state level, districts are still awaiting direction on how to implement some of the new guidelines that went into effect this past year. For that reason, the attached calendar has us in attendance the day after Easter. There is a possibility yet that we will have that day as a non-attendance day pending some further clarification from ISBE. Please understand there is always the possibility of some changes but the team felt "the basics" of the calendar were good enough to share out so all could start to plan accordingly. The School Board will officially adopt in either February or March. The committee will continue to meet with the hopes of putting out the 2020-21 calendar before the end of this school year.
- January School Board Agenda - Attached is a copy of the agenda for your review for the meeting to be held this coming Monday night.
- Special shout out to Senior Lane Ohlemeyer for signing to go to Marian University and good luck to our HS Choir as they have been chosen to be a state performer at the annual Illinois Music Educators Conference in Peoria this weekend.
"Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever."
In closing, the "winter blues" can be a real phenomenon so my hope is that we all find ways to mix things up and have fun. For example, now that you have next year's calendar, what great time to start planning spring break 2020!
Be safe and warm in the days ahead...have a great weekend,
