September is National Library Card Sign-Up Month

September 03, 2020

Does everyone in your family have a library card? A library card is one of the most cost-effective back-to-school supplies that you can have, especially in this unprecedented time. Both the Maroa and Forsyth Public Libraries offer plenty of options for you and your family, all for free!

With your library card, you can borrow books, movies, CDs and other materials from your library. You can use computers and printers that can be accessed within the library, as well as many online databases that you can use both in the libraries and at home. Free Wi-Fi can be utilized at both libraries and on the property, allowing patrons to access it from inside or from outside after hours.

Both libraries feature OverDrive, where you can check out e-books and audiobooks, and download them to your mobile devices.

If you’re looking to access content from home, you can utilize the media streaming platforms such as Kanopy and Hoopla with your Maroa library card, or Freegal to download music with your Forsyth library card. There’s also plenty of online databases that are great to use to help with school, such as the Testing & Education Reference Center database, offered at the Forsyth Public Library. If you need a break and are looking for something creative, check out Creativebug.com through your Maroa library card to access thousands of arts and craft tutorial videos and resources.

Make sure to stop by your local library to sign up or renew your library card to gain access to all of these great resources. You can also contact the Maroa Public Library at 217-794-5111 and the Forsyth Public Library at 217-877-8174.
