From March 18, 2024 board meeting

The board of education held their regular board meeting on March 18, 2024 in the high school library. The following items were acted upon or discussed during the meeting.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Stanford Livingston and Parker Sahaj Ghorta they are members of our elementary student council.

The board heard many good news items taking place in the school district. Congratulations to Will Wangs on qualifying for the IHSA State Swim meet in the 100-meter breast stroke. The board also talked about the success of the Hall of Fame/Foundation Dinner and the money raised in support of the foundation.

The board approved the minutes of the regular and closed session meeting minutes held on February 12, 2024.

The board approved the financial report and monthly bills for the month.

The board approved the destruction of audio closed session minutes 18 months or older.

The board approved the hiring of Lane Ohlemeyer as a first grade teacher.

The board approved the hiring of Kristy Frost as Assistant High School Volleyball Coach.

The board accepted the resignation of Kim Holmes as teacher aides, Ashley Wheeler as recess supervisor and Marissah Cook as middle school 7th grade volleyball coach.

The board approved the retirement letter of Jason Doty.

The board approved the maternity leave request of Maddy Jeffson.

The board approved the 2024-25 school handbook updates as presented. Each building principal reviewed with the board the changes to be made in each handbook prior to adoption.

The board approved a Memorandum of Understanding with the Four Square Living Church for the use of their facility in the event of a school evacuation.

The board had a presentation from Brice Stewart and Troy Holthaus on the use of Major Clarity. This program is a career interest program that will help students with the planning of their high school experience and post high school experience.

The board approved the request to improve the elementary school playground based on a presentation from members of the elementary student council and Ms. Reynolds. The cost for the new playground which includes equipment and a spongy base at a cost of just under $400,000. The community club has proposed $150,000 toward the project.

Illinois Association of School Board liaison Jill Feinstein updated the board on school board association happenings.

The board reviewed principal and athletic director reports as presented.
