From August 21, 2023 board meeting

The board of education held their regular board meeting on August 21, 2023 in the high school library. The following items were acted upon or discussed during the meeting.

The board recognized Ken Park and the National Honor Society for their efforts in supporting the Special Olympics.

The board recognized Khadijah Abdul-Rahman for her accomplishments in the Howard Scripps Spelling Bee.

The board received a report from Brian Benneke from O’shea Construction regarding the high school and unit office renovations. The high school project is about 95% complete with some minor projects and punch list items remaining. The unit office is on track for completion by September 1.

The board approved the minutes of the special board meeting held on July 12, 2023.

The board approved the financial report and monthly bills for the month.

The board approved the destruction of closed session minutes 18 months or older.

The board approved a wire transfer agreement Scott State Bank.

The board approved the hiring of Kyle Paterson as Assistant high school track coach.

The board approved the signatories for all financial accounts at Scott State Bank to include Jeff Holmes, Leo Johnson, Sandy Cummins, and Jody Luttrell

The board approved the FMLA leave of Heather Ohlymeyer.

The board approved the resignation of Angelina Adams as first grade teacher and Mandip Kaur as school bus driver effective immediately.

The board approved the hiring of Christi Brown school bus driver, Kellie Marlow as teacher aide, Johanna Jewell as teacher aide and Anthony Anzalom as school bus driver and Kristy Watrous as 1st grade teacher.

The board placed on review for 30 days the FY24 school district budget.

The board will conduct a budget hearing on September 18 at 6:30pm in the High School Library.

The board approved a resolution to hire an intervene authority on behalf to represent the district in property tax appeals in front of the property tax appeal board.

The board approved Springfield Plastics to place and advertisement on school property from August 25 to September 5. This is during the Farm Progress Show being held in Decatur.

The board heard a report on bringing back the FCCLA program to the high school.

The board approved an MOU with the MFEA regarding the Middle School RTI position.

The board approved a change in meeting dates for February. The board will now be meeting on February 12, 2024 at 6:30pm.

The board reviewed principal reports as presented.

The board approved salary for elementary secretary Marcia Stelzreide as presented.
